The City of South Perth has developed a Master-plan (pdf) to guide the future direction of the Collier Park Golf Course. This is in response to Council wanting the City 'to initiate longer term planning and development of the course facilities'.
This presents a wonderful opportunity to look strategically at the course and to consider the items that need to be upgraded and/or replaced, determine a priority and timeframe for implementation of the improvements, and establish a cost for each priority activity.
As part of the Master-planning process, the following components have been assessed:
- Location of course facilities and driving range;
- Irrigation;
- Course layout;
- Landscaping (including furniture and signage).
This project is continuing and a it is planned to report to Council in February 2010 to provide an implementation plan and costing.
The City is also investigating the feasibility of redeveloping the Course facilities, including the potential for a automatic driving range. Rosetta Holdings Pty Ltd (Course facilities lessee) presented two redevelopment proposals to Council in July 2009. Council chose to 'note' the proposals, but has requested the City carry out a detailed investigation into the financial feasibility of such a project. Council will be considering a report in December 2009 outlining how this project will be implemented.
